Role: Senior SAP Project Manager
SFIA Level – 5
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is seeking the services of a highly experienced Senior SAP Project Manager to work within the Department’s Information Technology Division on SAP platform. PM involves not only have technical project management but also strategic planning, effective communication, risk mitigation, and a strong focus on achieving operational excellence and growth for the organisation.
The resource supplied should have effective communication skills, show initiative, be able to work in a multidisciplinary team environment on rapid development including agile methodologies, and have demonstrated and extensive experience working with SAP products and Federal Government.
Key duties and responsibilities
The services will include and not be limited to:
- Participating and assisting in high level planning for the ERP Project and Program Implementation project.
- Leading a project team consisting of multi-functional, and virtual groups, ensuring the appropriate expectations, principles, structures, tools, and responsibilities are in place to deliver.
- Participating in steering, leadership, and governance advisory meetings as a strategic and tactical advisor.
- Creating and managing the project budget, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effectiveness throughout the project.
- Acting as the primary point of contact between the project team and senior management, ensuring effective communication and reporting of project progress and issues.
- Ensuring that all project documentation, including requirements, design specifications, test plans, and user manuals, are properly maintained and accessible.
- Ensuring that the ERP implementation complies with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as data privacy and industry-specific standards.
- Assisting the implementation partner in evaluating complex situations and identify viable solutions.
- Defining and maintaining the project scope, ensuring that it aligns with the organisation’s goals and objectives, and manage scope changes, as necessary.
- Identifying potential risks and issues related to the ERP implementation and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with technical professionals, project team members and stakeholders – including other external Departments.
- Excellent planning and high-level people and providers management skills to enable delivery of outcomes.

Required skills and experience
This role should have good project management skills, and a relentless commitment to delivering on time and within budget while ensuring the successful implementation and ongoing support of the ERP Projects:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as a project manager.
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or Information Technology or related discipline
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Significant Project Management experience.
- Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager who has successfully led similar ERP implementations to positive outcomes.
- Previous experience with SAP ECC and S/4HANA.
- An understanding of quality assurance practices to ensure project deliverables meet industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or vendor-specific certifications (beneficial).
